History of Art and Drawing lecturer at the Academy, Marlise, spends a lot of time with the apprentices, and knows them well. When asked to design a new artwork for the studio to translate into stone, she used the second year class of 2011 as inspiration and incorporated blind contour drawings and self-portraits that the apprentices created during their drawing lecture. The graphic quality of the artwork required a detailed mosaic interpretation made with Venetian glass, ceramic elements, washers, nails, engineered and natural stone in the direct method.
